Here Is The Best Cat Video Of The Year

On September 17th, the third annual Friskies honored the best cat videos of the previous year. The competition was fierce, furry, and adorable, but in the end, there can only be one: “Dumpster Kitty“, which stars a pair of cats from Tampa, Florida, took home the Grand Prize and won its submitter a cool $25,000.

The Friskies first called for sumbissions at the most recent VidCon, where online video stars Grace Helbig, Jesse Wellens, Zach King, Henri Le Chat Noir, and The Fine Bros showed their support. The Friskies’ judges narrowed the selection down to 12 contenders across four categories, and fans were then charged with the task of voting for their favorites.

Ultimately, a winner emerged in each category. “Cat vs. Flipflop” topped the “Funny” category, “Cat and Baby Play Peekaboo” topped “Res-cute”, and “How Bob Gets His Exercise” defeated all “Epic” challengers. In the end, though, they all came in second to “Dumpster Kitty”, which won the “Strange” category and the  Grand Prize for owner Chris Poole.

“This year’s ‘The Friskies’ was one of the best yet. Some videos were hilarious, some were adorable and some were absolutely outrageous!” said Whitney Evans, Friskies‘ assistant brand manager. “We were blown away with the amount of fan support and votes each video received.  Without a doubt, the videos combined with the countless votes of passionate fans made for a fierce but amazing competition.”

A compilation video composed from the 2,200 submissions and directed by Country Club Pictures has also gone live:

More clips from The Friskies are available on Friskies’ official YouTube channel. Go there if you want to be amused by all of this year’s entrants (Editor’s note: You want to do this.) “Dumpster Kitty” is great, but as far as I’m concerned, this little guy got robbed.
