People just can’t get enough of superheroes lately, and Machinima is counting on that trend. The “many to many” (M2M) company recently announced a deal with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to create a new animated series called Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles.
Focusing on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, the series will be set in an alternate universe where these three heroes are darker versions of themselves, thereby becoming more dangerous than fans have come to expect. The series is based off (and will be released just before) the upcoming film Justice League: Gods and Monsters, executive produced by Bruce Timm and co-produced by Alan Burnett (who both worked on Batman: The Animated Series).
This deal marks the first collaboration Warner Bros. has had with Machinima since the entertainment company’s investment in the largely gaming-focused M2M. It’s also the first project from Warner Bros.’s new digital content production department, despite the company having previously worked on the creation of the digital series Mortal Kombat: Legacy (also distributed by Machinima).

“Ever since we announced the Warner Bros. strategic investment, we have been looking for a new and exciting way to tap into the company’s unmatched content,” said Chad Gutstein, Machinima’s CEO, in a release. “With Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, Machinima will be the very first place fans can experience a new vision for DC Comics’ beloved Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman characters.”
Episodes of Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles will likely be released on Machinima in the spring of 2015.
