HomeTube Picks Out YouTube Videos That Are Good For Kids

Parents who wish to share YouTube with their young children have now been offered a new app that helps accomplish that task. HomeTube, which was recently launched by an Australian developer named Chris Lacy, provides an easy-to-navigate version of YouTube populated by kid-friendly entertainment.

At first download, HomeTube stocks itself with videos from well-known children’s series like The Wiggles and Dora The Explorer. For a one-time fee of $.99, users can customize the app and add in videos their kids enjoy. This feature is protected by a simple lock that requires users to tap six times before accessing the settings.

“I was motivated to write HomeTube after I found myself increasingly frustrated observing my children attempt to interact with and navigate the YouTube mobile apps,” said Lacy on his Google+ page. “I couldn’t shake the feeling there was an opportunity for an interface that was both vastly simpler and allowed me more control over what was being viewed.”
