‘Prank it FWD’ Returns to Break.com This November

Pranks became something benevolent in Spring 2014 when DEFY Media’s Break.com introduced Prank it FWD. And the compilation of gags executed by individuals with hearts of gold went so well that the digital media site just announced it’s bringing the initiative back this fall.

Beginning in November, Prank it FWD will return with original videos from Break.com, SMOSH, Screen Junkies, Greg Benson of Mediocre Films, and prank artists yet to be announced. Like its predecessor, the new installments of the campaign will kick off with a video featuring a worthy individual receiving a much-deserved surprise.

Prank it FWD gave the world a dose of positive pranks and was overwhelmingly embraced by viewers, confirming our notion that positive uplifting messages have incredible power to connect and impact the lives of others in a meaningful way,” said Barry Blumberg, EVP of DEFY Media, in a press release. “The outpouring of support and positivity we saw from our first iteration of Prank it FWD was inspiring, and it was clear that we needed to move the effort forward and go bigger. We’re excited to bring viewers more prank-filled surprises this Fall.”

To bring awareness to homelessness and poverty, Prank it FWD again plans to partner with DoSomething.org, the largest charity organization for social change among young people in the US. Break.com announced they’ll donate $1 for every 1000 views, as well as an additional dollar for every social media mention and share of #PrankitFWD.

Back in April, the series sparked waves of good feelings across the online video viewing world. The notable episode “Best Shift Ever” saw California waitress Chelsea Roff receive a series of escalating tips including $1,000, a trip to Hawaii, and a brand new car. Her story helped to generate 30 million views on the campaign to date and inspired other instances of positive pranking. One Canadian company threw a dream wedding for a couple in need and senior high school students from Phoenix raised over $500 for an Olive Garden waiter struggling to pay medical bills.

Currently, submissions are open at PrankitFWD.com. You can nominate your hopefully-soon-to-be happy (about yourself or someone you know) to be featured in the kickoff video in November, so click on over there and maybe you’ll be the next person to help change someone’s life.
