Grace Helbig, Mamrie Hart To Tour The Nation In ‘#HeyUSA’

Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart are headed on summer vacation. The two YouTubers, who are great friends and frequent collaborators, will tour the USA in a new web series titled #HeyUSA.

#HeyUSA will consist of an eight city tour, with most of the locations determined by fan input. The centerpiece of the series will be three weekly episodes on the YouTube channel of Astronauts Wanted, the production company behind the series. These episodes will run between two and five minutes and will feature a combination of professional cinematography and a so-called “selfie style.”

As the Twitter-friendly title shows, #HeyUSA will also feature a heavy dose of social media. Astronauts Wanted’s most prominent web project to date is #SummerBreak, which also featured a “bi-directional relationship” with its audience. As #HeyUSA co-creator Billy Parks told Tubefilter, the series will have the same improvisational style as #SummerBreak, relying on viewers to crowdsource content they want to see. “When we made #SummerBreak, the show we thought we were making and the show it became are different,” explained Parks. “We want to make sure we try things, we listen to our audience.”

This “real time experience” will unfold across multiple platforms. Twitter will serve as a tool for audience participation, Instagram will feature behind-the-scenes looks at Helbig and Hart’s trip, Tumblr will house great GIFs, and so forth. Helbig’s Twitter feed is already a virtual tour of #HeyUSA‘s first location: Alaska.

Helbig and Hart often collaborate with Hannah Hart, who toured the globe herself as part of her Hello, Harto web series. As with that project, #HeyUSA will give its stars the opportunity to meet their fans along the trip.

The first episode of #HeyUSA will launch on July 1st.
