Jack Vale: Humbling. YouTube has allowed me the platform to make a living doing the things I’ve always wanted to do. I’m grateful. I’ll never take for granted the fact that I wouldn’t be able to “prank for a living” without my fans…so to all of you who watch my videos, thank you.

TF: What is your favorite prank that you’ve released on YouTube?

JV: I have several so it’s hard to say but if someone was holding a gun to my head, I’d pick the Social Media Experiments. It’s always funny to watch people try and figure out how I know personal information about them. By the way…I can’t imagine a scenario where someone would hold a gun to my head because this question was so important to them.

TF: When you film your social media pranks, are you more focused on making a funny video or warning people about the dangers of leaving their information out in the open?

JV: When I film these pranks, I just want to make funny videos. It was interesting transitioning from “Prankster” to “Online Privacy Advocate” or whatever, but it has definitely allowed me to be in front of a different audience. Still though, my goal is always to simply make people laugh.

TF: How long does it generally take you to shoot and edit each of your videos?

JV: It varies, obviously, but my favorite thing about the way we shoot is that a TON of videos had absolutely no planning involved. Sometimes we go out and have no idea what we are going to film and, within an hour or two, magic just happens. When something is planned out, usually we will spend a full day, shooting two pranks. Editing always depends on how complicated the prank is…I do have a full time camera/editing guy (Kodi) who I’m grateful for because he’s a tech genius!…between the two of us, we can edit two solid, completed videos in a day. Sometimes more.

TF: Are there ever pranks that you film but have to scrap because they don’t work out the way you planned?

JV: A few times I had a great idea for a prank and it didn’t look right on camera so we scrapped it. It’s kinda like telling a joke that in your mind sounds hilarious but when you say it out loud you realize it sucks!

TF: What’s the best prank you have ever fallen for yourself?

JV: NEVER! Try me. Hasn’t happened yet my friend.

TF: Do you ever worry that your pranks will be a bad influence on your kids?

JV: Nope. All my pranks are family friendly. No cursing, or anything inappropriate at all. The reason for this is just because I really want to be a good influence on them. I don’t want them to ever wonder why Daddy did something he shouldn’t have done. That said, the prankster in me does like to be edgy sometimes.

TF: What’s next for your channel? Any exciting plans?

JV: Yeah! I’ll be making an appearance on The View later this May, which is really exciting. Fullscreen has been great in helping me connect with several TV creators and production companies, which I’m in discussion with now. I look forward to making some announcements soon – stay tuned!
