Smosh Battles Top YouTube Creators For Hot Pockets Glory

March Madness is usually related to basketball, but four YouTube channels have provided a version related to microwavable pizza snacks instead. Smosh, The Warp Zone, Brittani Louise Taylor, and Taryn Southern are competing in “Sandwich Showdown“, a four-team tournament to decide who loves Hot Pockets the most.

As part of the brand campaign, each of the four participating channels created a video related to Hot Pockets. Smosh’s rap battle will face-off against The Warp Zone’s musical number, while Taylor and Southern both created their own music videos on the other side of the bracket.  “We’re pumped to put our own musical spin on the Hot Pockets brand for the ultimate Sandwich Showdown,” said Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox of Smosh in a press release. “This is going to be a delicious lyrical competition like you’ve never seen and we can’t wait to face-off and let our viewers decide which one of us reigns supreme.”

Hot Pockets partnered with Defy Media for the bracket, and the victors are decided by fan voting. As you might expect, Smosh and its massive YouTube fan base is predictably crushing The Warp Zone. As of this post, Taylor and Southern are locked in a dead heat.

This isn’t the first time Hot Pockets has leveraged YouTube for a brand campaign related to its signature foodstuffs. In 2012, it enlisted Snoop Dogg, DeStorm, and Andy Milonakis for a music video called “Pocket Like It’s Hot”. As good as some of this campaign’s entries are, I’m still planning on writing in Snoop Dogg all the way to the championship.
