Description: Luke Banderloft and the McFarven Pirates is a web series based on a fantasy book by author Rocky Perry. It chronicles the adventures of an elfish outsider who finds himself in the underworld of a thieving slumlord known only as The Red Hook. As you can imagine, there’s all sorts of fantasy tropes on display, including magic spells and strange creatures.

Creator Bio: Chattanooga, Tennessee based production studio Cook Box is helming the project, with an assist from Perry himself. Cook Box has previously worked with TV companies such as Travel Channel, Food Network, and HGTV. Meanwhile, Perry brings a unique perspective to his writing: He was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, overcoming it to become a published author.

Best Perk: For $500, Perry will write you into the next Luke Banderloft book, which has the crazy title of Luke Banderloft and the Wander Captains.

Why You Should Fund It: Honestly, take another look at that trailer. Cook Box has a clear talent for visual production, one that provides both sharp, TV-quality visual production and first rate special effects. While I can’t count myself as a Luke Banderloft reader, the story has an interesting premise, and Cook Box seems primed for an exciting adaptation.

The trailer also pays great attention to sound design, music, and sets, three areas that often get thrown to the wayside by hasty creators. Luke Banderloft stands as an intriguing fantasy project, one that deserves a second look.
