Lindsey Stirling Follows Best-Selling Week Ever With Another Viral Hit

Lindsey Stirling is on fire, and I’m not just talking about her ‘Elements‘ music video. Over the past three weeks, the dubstep violinist has won a YouTube Music Award, scored her best-selling week ever, and claimed another viral YouTube hit for her latest music video, based off her song ‘Minimal Beat‘.

In late October, Stirling re-released her self-titled debut album after adding a few bonus tracks, most notably an orchestral version of her second-most popular song, ‘Elements’. In the first week of November, this re-release led  her to score her best-selling week ever. She sold 10,000 copies of her album over that period, rising up to #23 on the Billboard charts and #2 on the Billboard classical charts.

But Lindsey’s success hasn’t been limited to album sales. She also recently released a music video for her song ‘Minimal Beat’, and as with many of her other videos, it has become one of the biggest trending videos on YouTube (thanks in part to her 3.6 million subscribers). It follows Stirling as she performs her whirling dervish routine and weaves it through cities all over the world thanks to the power of match cuts. It’s pretty cool, but it also gives me some supreme travel envy.

So, to recap: Stirling rules traditional media, she rules new media, and she rules that weird interstitial space between new and traditional media. Oh, and she has recently proved via her appearances on Dance Showdown that she still has plenty of sweet dance moves. For Stirling, it’s been a November to remember.
