BroadbandTV MCN Launches Production Program For Creators

Of late, BroadbandTV has been a multi-channel network on the rise. Over the past couple months, the Canadian corporation has beefed up its network through a $36 million funding round, a new creator platform, and an influx of talent through Atomic Partners, all of which have helped it become one of the top five MCNs in terms of both subscribers and views. Now, BroadbandTV is expanding its scale even further by offering a production program for creators.

The budget for the production program hasn’t yet been revealed, but it will help out BroadbandTV creators by providing them with funding and production assistance. “We want our growing number of channel partners to be as successful as possible and arm them with the tools, expertise and funds to help them grow their audience,” said BroadbandTV CEO Shahrzad Rafati. “It’s an incredibly exciting time for the industry and we’re committed to keeping our partners at the forefront of market developments while offering up further premium original content for advertisers.”

BroadbandTV’s new program continues a trend of MCNs moving more heavily into production. A portion of Fullscreen’s $30 million+ funding round will go towards a studio wing, while Collective Digital Studios CEO Reza Izad recently noted that “people don’t realize how much production we do.” Maker Studios also made a big move towards more original content yesterday when it announced the hiring of former Yahoo Head of Video Erin McPherson as its Chief Content Officer.

In other words, the top MCNs are all converging on a similar goal. With its recently launched program, BroadbandTV has the means to join that movement.
