‘The Annoying Orange’ Expands YouTube Channel With Two Animated Series

Now that it’s done riffing on Breaking Bad, the Annoying Orange YouTube channel is making a big-time expansion into original content. Two new animated programs will join Dane Boedingheimer‘s flagship fruit-fest on its popular online video hub. Up first is stick figure series The Misfortune Of Being Ned, a new creation from the Annoying Orange team starring several notable YouTube personalities.

The Misfortune of Being Ned brings The Annoying Orange’s young fans to the world of Ned, an exuberant young boy who is prone to deaths befitting Kenny. SourceFed‘s Steve Zaragoza will provide the voice of Ned, with his former coworker Kevin Brueck, recent Stylehaul signee Strawburry17 (AKA Meghan Camarena), and regular Annoying Orange voice Bob Jennings included in the cast as well.

In January, The Annoying Orange will debut a second series aligned with the interests of its fans. It will serve as the home for Gusto Rules, which will be based off the eggs-cellent artwork of Tofer Chin. That sound you hear is How To Basic shifting in his seat.

“Our expansion of the Annoying Orange channel marks the first steps towards evolving the channel into the go-to hub for animation programming that everyone can enjoy,” explained Boedingheimer.

The Annoying Orange is partnered with Collective Digital Studios, and the expansion of its channel is the first of what will be a trend of similar strategies across the network’s creators. In 2014, Collective DS is planning to expand three more of its top channels: FreddieW, Epic Meal Time, and Megan & Liz.

We’ll get our first look at how the Annoying Orange audience receives the new programming when The Misfortune of Being Ned takes off on October 9th.
