#SMWLA Preview: Exploring The YouTube Multi-Channel Network Landscape

From September 23-28, online companies, executives, and personalities will gather in Santa Monica for Social Media Week Los Angeles. To help showcase the incredible events that will be going down this year, Tubefilter will be offering daily previews of individual events. Check out the full schedule here and our schedule at a glance here.

There are a growing number of multi-channel networks offering their services to aspiring YouTubers, and it seems like each one is scoring multi-million dollar investment rounds and buying up assets left and right. With so many appealing options, it can be hard for inexperienced creators to understand which network (if any) is the right fit, and as the recent disputes between creators and networks have shown, there seem to be plenty of people who are signing contracts without understanding the full implications of a network partnership.

At Social Media Week Los Angeles, Chris Landa will lead a class in which he will teach attendees about the ins and outs of multi-channel networks, talent management companies, and tool providers. Landa used to work in Affiliate Development at Machinima, and he’s provided plenty examples of his online video expertise in the columns he’s written for us. If you don’t know what makes Maker Studios, Fullscreen, Big Frame, and all of the other major MCN players distinct from one another, consider taking some time out of your Monday to hear what Chris has to say.
