For some musicians, it’s enough to have a drunk band practice, you have to have a really drunk band practice, film it and slap it up on YouTube so the whole world can participate in your escalating debauched behavior. London based-Moones has taken the perennial concept of practicing instruments while inebriated to a whole other level, adding a legitimate “Choose Your Own Adventure” style component to the video for their track, ‘Better Energy.’ With alternating camera angles and multiple takes, ‘Better Energy’ is essentially five music videos in one, in which the path you choose dictates the band’s booze intake.

You start off with 80 full beers, four camera angles, and five separate takes of the guys performing the upbeat, indie-rock track. Each of the five takes ads 20 beers, meaning that by the end each member has actually downed 16 beers, which, leads to an expectedly hilarious final iteration of the song.

In order to create the interactive music video adventure, the band had to embed a series of annotations, all roughly three seconds apart. The viewer can act as the band’s personal bar tender seamlessly clicking through multiple angles and various levels of drunkitude. It all makes for a supremely awesome feat as well as an important bellwether for bands looking to build a sense of community and engagement around their YouTube Content.

But what’s more is that is isn’t just the perfectly executed concept and music video. It features a great song, too. ‘Better Energy’ is super dance-y, energetic, and of course conducive to slugging back 16 beers and partying hard. Also worth noting is the impressive feat of annotating this video. Check out a swell making of video with some very funny behind the scenes clips here, as well as more info on Moones on their website.  If you decide to drink along with the band, please do so responsible as nobody wants this guy at their party.
