YouTube Millionaires: How To Basic Breaks Out Of His Shell

Welcome to YouTube Millionaires, where we profile channels that have recently crossed the one million subscriber mark. There are channels crossing this threshold every week, and each has a story to tell about YouTube success. Read previous installments of YouTube Millionaires here.

Does your daily routine consist of smashing eggs in your kitchen and generally making a mess? If not, then you are not How To Basic, and therefore you do not have the greatest job in the world. The mysterious Australian creator, who never shows his face or speaks in his videos, has made a killing on YouTube through his absurd, messy, and egg-filled cooking ‘lessons’. As he is now over one million subscribers, we chatted with the king of egg destruction about his singular methods.

How To Basic: It feels like I’ve been hit in the face by 1,000,000 eggs; not only am I totally shocked, but i’m also drooling. To be honest i’m not surprised though, my recipe and instructional videos are the only accurate ones available on the web.

To my subscribers: THANK YOU ALL! to show my appreciation you will all be receiving an egg in the mail!*

*All eggs are personally laid by me. If you have any concerns about the production of your egg please click here to view the laying process in detail.

TF: Is this your job or just something you do with your free time? Either way, how long do you think you’ll keep at it?

HTB: I recently quit my job to concentrate on producing better content and laying better quality eggs, so at the moment yes, it is my job! As long as people continue to watch them I’ll continue to make them! I promise.

TF: How long does it take to clean up each mess? What has been the hardest one to clean up?

HTB: What mess? haha just yolking with you, it really depends on what i’m making. On average about an hour, but it varies greatly. My How To Make Bread video was around a 3 hour clean up time and about a 20 minute eating time.

TF: Why always eggs?

HTB: That’s like asking ‘why always breathe?’ Because we have to if we want to live. Eggs are the oxygen I breathe, the food I eat and they are my only true friends. Eggs are my everything.

TF: The videos you release have changed a lot since you started your channel. How do you see them changing in the future?

HTB: Bigger. Better. Faster. Stronger. Egger. I guarantee they will continue to make everyone eggstatic.

TF: In real life, are you actually a good chef or are you just a good mess-maker?

HTB: What a silly question, of course I’m a good chef! You obviously haven’t watched any of my videos. I’m the best there is. I’m #1. I’m the one and only Master Chef. I’m the King & Queen of Egg cooking.

TF: What’s the strangest message you’ve ever received from a viewer?

HTB: I got a pretty strange one a few days ago. Basically it was a guy complaining saying my recipe videos are wrong and they don’t show the correct way to make food. He obviously had no idea what he was talking about.

TF: What made you decide to partner with Fullscreen?

HTB: I signed with Fullscreen because, in my opinion, they are the best network out there. I made sure I signed with a network that actually cares for their partners, and that’s what Fullscreen does! They care. They also don’t discriminate against people with an egg fetish.

TF: You’re very secretive about your identity, so I have an important question for you. Are you Batman?

HTB: Yes.
