DeStorm And iJustine Saving The Children With Charity Competition

On June 11th, Samsung will host its 12th annual Hope for Children gala, an event celebrating the electronics company’s charitable efforts, through which it has donated over $25 million to school, community, and charity organizations since 2002. Now, Samsung has invited celebrities to get in on the philanthropy, and YouTubers iJustine and DeStorm are among the participants in a Hope for Children social auction which will ultimately result in a $25,000 charitable donation.

The contest, as iJustine explains in her entry video, challenges five competitors to generate the largest possible buzz related to Hope for Children. Whoever can generate the largest social media presence will win a $25,000 donation from Samsung to the charity of his or her choice.

To rally his own troops, DeStorm has released a rap centered around the letter A. “I’m thrilled to be part of Samsung Hope for Children this year,” he said. “This is my first year participating, and I’m supporting Covenant House because, having been homeless myself for a time, I firmly believe that no child should ever have to experience that. I’m working with my audience to raise money and Samsung has committed $10,000 as well.”

Other celebs involved in the social auction include Taye Diggs, Mark Teixeira, and Rachel Zoe.

The actual gala will be live streamed on What’s Trending. “At What’s Trending, we’re incredibly passionate about using our platform to make a difference and there is no better cause than helping children,” said Damon Berger, CEO of What’s Trending. “We are excited to once again collaborate with the world’s number one technology brand, Samsung, to help the next generation of technologists.”

Feeling hopeful about the children yourself? The gala begins June 11th at 5:30 EST. Be sure to use the hashtag  #Hope4Children to let your social spheres know you’re tuning into a good cause.
