Internet Icon has returned to YOMYOMF, and it’s grown considerably since we saw it last. The first half-hour episode features 100 aspiring YouTubers and some critical analysis from the three judges.
Season 1 began with 15 minute episodes before switching to a half hour format halfway through the season. This time, the 30 minute runtime is in place from the beginning, with the first half hour showing the 100 contestants who were handpicked by the Internet Icon team out of thousands of submissions.

Unlike shows like X-Factor, where one of the main draws of the first round is watching Simon Cowell sardonically put down unworthy contestants, the criticism from Internet Icon‘s three judges is mostly positive. Ryan Higa, Christine Lakin, and Timothy DeLaGhetto tend to highlight each submission’s high points, even for creators who they deem “not ready.” When they praise a video, they do so without any criticism at all, and inter-judge dissent is rare.
As Internet Icon moves on, we can expect the judges to get much more discerning. However, the starting episode seems more like a sizzle reel, giving viewers the simplest introduction to each competitor. Only one thing is clear: If Sheikh John (AKA Yousuf Yousuf) doesn’t make the top ten, there’s no justice in the world.
