New Red Bull Series Goes Inside The Life Of A Stunt Biker

If you haven’t yet seen Danny MacAskill‘s ‘Way Back Home’, drop whatever you’re doing and watch it right now. The stunt biking video, which has racked up more than 26 million YouTube views , is the second most popular offering on the Red Bull channel, and for good reason; the mindblowing extreme sports video, which features MacAskill pedaling, hopping, and pivoting his way across Scotland is (and I say this without a hint of hyperbole) one of the coolest things on the Internet.

I mention ‘Way Back Home’ to preface Red Bull’s newest series, Imaginate, which goes behind-the-scenes of MacAskill’s life, revealing that street trials aren’t the only trials he has to face. The first episode of the six-part documentary discusses the Scot’s chronic back and leg injuries, the former of which eventually becomes so intrusive that he must undergo surgery.

MacAskill’s profession is incredibly unique, and his innovative approach to his craft makes Imaginate quite interesting. “I think it’s super hard for Danny because you can’t really categorize what he does and therefore there’s no set training plan for what he does,” says Gee Atherton, one of MacAskill’s training partners, during the video, “it’s very much a natural talent thing so to speak and while the training can help him recover from injuries there’s not really an obvious training route he needs to take to help him perform.” MacAskill displays some of his singular riding talents during the video, which, if nothing else, should provide a reason to watch ‘Way Back Home’ for the thirty-thousandth time.
