Nerdist Bringing ‘Chris Hardwick’s All-Star Celebrity Bowling’ To AMC

During his monologue at the Streamys, Chris Hardwick discussed his TV career, which has included “two crappy dating shows and [talking] about zombies.” A deal with AMC will allow The Nerdist to improve his small screen cred. All-Star Celebrity Bowling, currently a staple of the Nerdist YouTube channel, will be developed for TV by AMC and could become a series on the cable channel.

AMC is already the home to Talking Dead, the aforementioned talk show companion to the channel’s Walking Dead zombie series. The new agreement works as a trade of sorts: Bonus footage from Talking Dead will become available on the Nerdist channel, while All-Star Celebrity Bowling will air in some capacity on TV. It will start as a special, but could easily be optioned into a series with enough positive response.

All-Star Celebrity Bowling and Talking Dead have already intertwined AMC and the online video industry on multiple occasions. YouTube personalities such as Felicia Day and Scott Ian (who hosts Fangoria’s Blood and Guts on Nerdist) have been guests on Talking Dead, while the cast members of several AMC shows, including Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, and Mad Men, have bowled with Hardwick.

Of course, All-Star Celebrity Bowling is also an outlet through which Hardwick can connect to the YouTube community. As is the case with Talking Dead, expect several web video guests to join Hardwick at the alley if the show airs on TV for a prolonged time. Given the show’s already extended format (many episodes run over 10 minutes), All-Star Celebrity Bowling can definitely make the cut on TV. It may need a little more juice to survive, but our main man Chris is the right fit for such a job.
