Swedish Luxury Car Designer Unveils His Meticulous Process On Drive

Koenigsegg sounds like a German poultry product, but it’s actually a line of luxury vehicles founded by Swede Christian von Koenigsegg in 1994. For more than 15 years, Koenigsegg has created some of the sleekest, best-performing luxury cars on the road. Now, a new web series on the Drive channel is taking viewers inside Koenigsegg’s meticulous process.

Inside Koenigsegg will run for nine episodes, each one featuring a different element of the typical Koenigsegg luxury car. The initial installment details the manufacturer’s use of lightweight-yet-durable carbon fibers, with the head honcho himself walking viewers through the intricate process through which it is made suitable for use in the car’s body. I’m not enough of a car guy to understand the finer points, but I got the basic gist: this is very complex stuff.

Inside Koenigsegg‘s insider nature fits its channel well. Drive is one of three automotive channels included in the first 100 entries to the YouTube Original Channels Initiative, and the debut of such a hyper-specific web series helps establish Drive (with its 228,000 subscribers) as the premiere car channel for true industry insiders. After all, like with Ben Baller’s web series on LOUD, you don’t have to be an industry expert to understand how this stuff looks damn cool.
