VYou is a destination and platform for the instigation, viewing, and dissemination of online video Q&A sessions. The facilitator, aggregator, and distributor of decidedly lo-fi and unproduced user-generated question-and-answer content rests somewhere in the middle of broadcast platforms (like YouTube, Vimeo, and Blip) and “real-time conversation utilities” (like Skype or Google+ Hangouts). It’s popular with the online video creators, too.
Prominent YouTube personalities use VYou as another way to provide content for, and get more intimate with their growing fan bases. Benefit Cosmetics, for instance, recently partnered with the platform in order to drive brand awareness in digitally innovative ways. The San Francisco-based cosmetics manufacturer tapped a handful of YouTube’s top beauty gurus to answer cosmetic questions from fans and budding estheticians via VYou.
Jennifer Chae (fromheadtotoe), Elessa Jade (pursebuzz), Leina (makeupbyleinabaaaby), Meghan Rienks (meghanrosette), April (AprilAthena7), and Rachel Cooper (rachhloves) solicited inquiries from the VYou community and their Twitter followers (by way of VYou’s nifty Twitter integration) and gave some sage advice in the form of video.
