YouTube Staying Angsty As ‘Squaresville’ Gets Second Season

The first season of creator Matt Enlow‘s Squaresville, a low-key teenage comedy, drew a bit of a cult following thanks to a likable cast (featuring Mary Kate Wiles of Lizzie Bennett Diaries among others) and a deal with Big Frame that gave the fledgling web series plenty of publicity.

Six weeks after the Squaresville finale aired, Enlow and Wiles have returned to the show’s channel to announce a second season of the show. It will debut in early 2013 and, if the show’s creative talent is to be believed, it will have “100% more making out, 100% more fun, and 85% more angst.”

Production has already wrapped, so expect Enlow to spend the next few weeks teasing his passionate fanbase with photos and trailers (the Squaresville channel has hosted a large amount of behind-the-scenes material in addition to the sixteen episodes.)

“I’m tremendously excited that we’re rolling out another season.” said Enlow. “It’s been a big year for us– collaborating with such awesome people in the community, our partnership with Big Frame, the awesome reaction from the fans and the YouTube community– it’s been a thrill and a dream come true. We’re all very proud of the next season, and can’t wait to show everyone early next year.”

Squaresville‘s channel has drawn a modest 15,000 subs, and the 48 videos posted to it have averaged a shade more than 13,700 views. With competitors like Pretty Tough and Runaways crowding the teen angst market, Squaresville should have stiff competition, but don’t expect Enlow, Wiles, and co-star Kylie Sparks to back down.
