Fantasy Series ‘Spellfury’ Seeks Your Healing Potion On Indiegogo

Back in 2009, when we first wrote about Spellfury, it was doing pretty well for itself. The first two episodes of the independent fantasy series gained over 450 thousand views on YouTube, and the entire 12-episode first season (which ended in 2010) gained over 700,000 views on YouTube alone. The show even ended up getting featured on Canadian TV.

Since then, however, the series has fallen on hard times. After beginning a 12 episode second season, the production team behind Spellfury had to halt production after funds dried up. Now, creator Travis Gordon and lead actress Julie O’Halloran have taken to Indiegogo, where they hope to raise the $24,000 dollars they need to finish up season 2.

If you haven’t seen Spellfury, it’s not too hard to get the basic gist after viewing an episode or two. This is high fantasy through and through, with enough enchanted swords and magical races to make any Lord of the Rings fan smile. The lead character is O’Halloran’s Druinia, a half-elf who becomes The Chosen One after discovering a mystical blade. The show is very unashamedly low budget, with a plethora of cheap special effects and a collection of Muppet-esque costumes aiding the supernatural setting.

The one thing that seems clear to me about Spellfury is the passion that its creators have for it. “The cast and crew love working on this show and truly believe it’s special and unlike anything that’s out there right now.” says Spellfury‘s Indiegogo page, “We feel very fortunate to be given the opportunity to work on this series.” At this point, the creators still need 98% of their 24,000 dollar goal. If you dig Spellfury, you know what to do.
