Google To Profile Powerful Women In The Tech Industry Via Hangout

The Google Developers Live page has emerged as a platform where innovative tech companies can present their works to the world and established names from the digital sphere can talk about their secrets for success. Next week, Google will use the space to present five hangouts with several women who have reached great heights within the field of technology.

The series of talks, titled Women Techmakers, started as a panel held around the time of this year’s Google I/O. The panel featured Megan Smith alongside four other high-ranking female employees from Google. Smith will also be featured in the new series alongside executives from several other companies, including Bitly, Pixability, and VMWare.

The Google Developers Live page will host one hangout each day from November 5-9 beginning at 5:30 EST. Fans are encouraged to join the conversation by submitting questions and comments to the Google Developers Google+ page.

Google aren’t the only prominent company highlighting powerful women. Throughout the majority of 2012, PBS and AOL have teamed up to create Makers, a series that profiles women who have made a difference in the world. That series includes over 175 videos, and the list of very notable women who have appeared in Makers is enormous (just a few: Hillary Clinton, Martha Stewart, Katie Couric).

When you combine these two efforts, it becomes clear that it’s getting easier for a woman to become an industry leader in previously male-dominated fields. If the subject fascinates you, be sure to hang out with Women Techmakers as they take over Google all week long.
