Doctor Who Bowls, Harasses Married Couple in Recent Web Activities

Series 7 of Doctor  Who premiered at the beginning of the month. That’s good news for Whovians (aka fans of the seemingly perennial British sci-fi television program) who were waiting to get their fix. But there are still plenty of videos on the web to satisfy those among us who are Who crazy and either do not have cord-cutting access to, or need something to supplement the first batch of BBC America episodes of the program.

BBC’s Pond Life web series acts as a five part prequel to Doctor Who Series 7 and explores the lives of newlyweds Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) when they’re not traveling as the companions of The Doctor (Matt Smith).

While Pond Life Part 1 acts as a tease and features the Doctor more than the happy couple, the rest of the series give the audience a real glimpse at the Ponds, their marriage, and how time traveling aliens can complicate the honeymoon phase. The Pond Life series is collectively only 5 minutes long, but delivers witty lines like “Ood on the Loo” which are sure to become fan favorites. It also sets up the tension for Series 7 and the Ponds’ final farewell; Gillan and Darvill will exit the show after this season.

Beyond Pond Life, the Doctor, his companions, and Who fans have been popping up all over the internet. Earlier this month, Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick and BBC America made a special PSA video that appeals to Who veterans while introducing new viewers to the series and launching the #newtoWHO twitter trend.

If the #newtoWHO plea wasn’t enough to prove Hardwick’s love of the series, the Nerdist’s recent episode of All-Star Celebrity Bowling features the Doctor Who team: Smith, Gillan, Darvill, and Executive Producer Steven Moffat. (SPOILER ALERT – Yes, Smith DOES deliver his Doctor catchphrase with the line “Bowling is cool,” and it’s amazing!)

Whether you are a loyal Whovian or still PONDering whether or not to watch the show, Pond Life and Hardwick’s #newtoWho efforts are making the internet even more fan-friendly to time traveling adventurers and their wedded companions.
