Tubefilter’s Guide to Internet Week 2012

If you’re in the television industry, Monday, May 14 2012 marks the beginning of the big network broadcast Upfronts (aka the day NBC may or may not officially announce it will air a final 13-episode half-season of 30 Rock and FOX will showcase whatever animated short they had Seth MacFarlane make that’s meant to entice advertisers to spend more dollars on more things Seth MacFarlane makes). But if you’re in the internet industry, the date marks the beginning of Internet Week.

Since 2008, tech-centric companies and individuals either in possession of online credibility or looking to gain some have descended upon New York City for a one-week long marathon of panels, parties, and other events with a web theme. This year, in its fifth anniversary edition, Interent Week is not so different than when it started, except it now boasts exponentially more of those panels, parties, and events.

You can check out the full schedule of such (free, payment-required, and invite-only) activities here (which either take place at this year’s Internet Week Headquarters at 82 Mercer or at locations all around Manhattan and a touch of Brooklyn), but if you find the overwhelming amount of options induces a kind of paralysis of choice, we’ve narrowed the schedule down to the handful of entertainment and online video oriented events you should most definitely look into checking out.
