‘Continuum’ Teases Out with Facebook-Only Release

Continuum is one of those anticipated independent series on our list long due to a check-in. It was after all, announced back in February of 2010 as Streamy-winning Pink director Blake Calhoun’s next project. Now the series is finally teasing out on the interwebs with a special Facebook-only exclusive release of the first three episodes.

Continuum is a move into the more heady sci-fi realm for Calhoun and co., in what they are billing as “a futuristic thriller in the noir-ish tradition of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Alien.” Melanie Merkosky (Harper’s Globe, lonelygirl15) stars as a Reagan, a woman waking up alone inside a space ship without any memory whatsoever of why she is there. Taryn O’Neill voices the ship’s computer—or at least eventually does about midway through the first episode.

“I’m still working out the wider release plan of the series, but Season 1 (nine episodes) will roll out in early 2012 after this initial 3 episode Facebook preview,” Calhoun told us over email. “Most likely I’ll follow a similar syndication route as I did with Pink hitting the major video portals, but with some differences – we’re looking at a “freemium” model using some online VOD platforms.”

“The primary reason I chose Facebook over other outlets was to reward our fan base there that has been with us from the beginning,” he added, “and we’d also like to continue to build that base as the show moves forward. So releasing this preview on FB is really our way of saying thank you to them and and at the same time hoping new folks will find the show.”

As of today, episode one, “Supernovacaine” is now up on Facebook and is viewable here (if you’re logged into Facebook) and on the show’s page. The second episode will go up next Tuesday (10/25) with the third released the following Tuesday.
