Steve Jobs is Hulu’s Single Largest Individual Shareholder

steve jobs huluIt’s Monday, and that means it’s time for our the latest from our weekly video blog of online video news worth knowing. This week we jump back into the ongoing parlor game of which mega-company is going to buy up Hulu. And now that Apple quietly dropped TV rentals from iTunes last week, we dug through the numbers to find out that Steve Jobs is indirectly the largest individual shareholder of Hulu stock. How so? Watch the video (below) for the run down.

We also profile Einstein the Talking Texan Parrot, who’s channel is growing on YouTube as he picks up the pace of his displays of super-cognitive language skills. Maybe he picked up Final Cut?

The Breakdown:

After Disney purchased Pixar back in 2006, Jobs, a Pixar co-founder and CEO, netted a cool 138 million shares of the Mouse House (DIS), or what now comes out to about 7.3% of the company. Since ABC/Disney is one of the major Hulu joint owners with 27% stake in the four year-old online TV network, a little math says that he indirectly owns about 2% of the company, or more than any other individual.

What does this all mean? Well, consider it another piece in the parlor game, as it alone doesn’t tell all that much. But we’re still going out on a limb here and saying it’s Apple, not one of the four suitors-du-jour (Google, Yahoo, Amazon and DirecTV) that snaps up Hulu for a cool $2 billion.

Fantasy Football Shows We Love

Just one week (and change) to go until kickoff of the 2011-2012 NFL season, and that means fantasy football drafts are now underway for the 15 or so million, myself included, that obsess over our fake teams with bloodlust and scorn. There’s no shortage of fantasy football sites looking to take your money in exchange for dim-witted advice like drafting Ryan Matthews in the top 10 last year. Luckily, there’s plenty of free online shows with timely tips and decent advice.

Three online FFB shows we like:

Yahoo’s Fantasy Football Live!
Streamin’ Garage’s Stupid for Fantasy Football
NFL Rants and Raves
