‘Issues’, Exclusive Look Inside Crackle’s Latest

issuesSome web series pop out as fast as the creative diarrhea works its ways from inception inside the brain of anyone with a camera to the bowels of YouTube. Others, take time. Sometimes years. Crackle’s new half-animated, half-live-action comedy web series Issues falls in the latter of those two camps.

The setup of Issues, which percolated during co-creator Matt Oates‘ college psych class, is rather simple—Dr. Ted (Josh Cooke) is a disgruntled psychologist sorting out “the bizarre neuroses and psychoses” of animated superheroes. Or, as our own Josh Cohen put it, “Issues is what happens when you take those Jerry Seinfeld and Superman AMEX commercials off the streets of New York City and into a pschyologists’s office.”

Voicing these original superheroes—like the flashing-exhibitionist Captain Magnificent or the blind K9 attack dog—are comedians Seth Green, Eric Stonestreet, Ron Livingston, Rob Riggle, Greg Grunberg, and Eddie Kaye Thomas. While it may be one of the last short form web series from Crackle, it certainly delivers with sharp, original biting comedy.
