The Battery's Down - Season 2 CDJonah Ray has a new web show, and he gets to blow things up! The Battery’s Down, the web’s Glee-ful musical comedy full of cheery young Broadways actors, may be on an indefinite hiatus, but that isn’t stopping the New York crew from having a Season 2 CD release party. The free event hosted by Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records is this Sunday, July 18th at 8:30pm at Hurley’s (232 West 48th St. at 8th Avenue) featuring live performances by Jenna Coker Jones, John Hill, David Hull, Marla Mindelle, Dani Spieler, Nina Sturtz, Alysha Umphress and Jake Wilson. BP might have stopped the oil leak today, but that didn’t stop a hoard of restless protestors with major World Cup withdrawl from surrounding BP’s London headquarters this week armed with those delightful vuvuzelas. Babelgum decided to take advantage of being well, based in London, and sent cameras to cover the musical protest. Anyone notice the high number of attractive American ladies in this video? NATPE unveiled the winners of its NextTV Competition at its annual LATV Festival in Los Angeles this week. Several web originals were in the running—The WC won the branded enteratinment category, NEXT! from creator Heather Laird won Best Comedy, the_source from creator Marc D’Agostino won Best Drama and Daryl Goldberg’s trivia game show Red Carpet Run took home Best Reality/Unscripted honors. The Vimeo Festival and Awards will kick off with a preview event in Amsterdam on September 10, and to help get things started on the right note, they are giving away a $25,000 grant to one of the overall Film or Video category winners. [Vimeo]
