'The Crew' Creator Teases 'Lost & Found', Absolute Disaster

Absolute DisasterSummer hiatus. To some people these two words mean kicking back, slowing down and catching up on long lost sleep. To others, it means it’s time to get busy.

For Brett Register, creator-star of sci-fi web series The Crew, we’re going to say it’s the latter. With one episode left to come in The Crew’s 15-episode season, Register teased out the first episode (above) of Lost & Found today, hinting at what is expected to be a busy summer. Featuring fellow Crew star Craig Frank (Private High Musical) along with web series vet Katy Stoll (Prom Queen, Couples, Private High Musical) and Register himself, Lost & Found is the first of a handful of short web series coming out from the newly formed creative team, Absolute Disaster.

Craig Frank - The CrewThe five-person ensemble, a mix of actors and technical talent includes Register, Stoll, Frank and actor Haley Mancini (Prom Queen, Weeds, Mad Men) with The Crew’s Tim Riese coming on board as director of photography for all projects.

“(We) got tired of wading through all the red tape in regards to content creation and decided instead to do away with dates, deadlines, and budgets and just start creating,” said Register.

Despite the casual attitude, the group is planning on a new episode every week, with “at least 5 episodes” of Lost & Found. While billed as a parody series, it only thematically appears to borrow from ABC’s Lost, mostly in the form – WTF was that? Other series announced include The Bird and Craig & The Werewolf.

“Essentially, it’s just going to be a lot of 1-2 minute goodness running a muck on the internet,” added Register.

Aside from their own whimsical ideas, the team says they would consider taking on work for hire, given the right project, similar to Prom Queen creators Big Fantastic. “Our love for creating content in conjunction with our love for making money, says to me that we are in fact open to the idea of being for hire,” Register noted. “If the right project came along we’d be more than happy to make it happen!”

While the new group has crossover from the team behind The Crew (RegisteredFilms), the two remain separate. The final episode of The Crew’s first season is due out next week. Catch up at TheCrew.tv or on KoldCast.
