First Oprah. Then Obama. Now The Pope himself.

As online video becomes the de facto means of global broadcast, YouTube adds the holiest of holies to its ranks of channel-owners. The Vatican will use its channel to provide regular updates on The Pope and the Catholic Church’s take on the major problems facing the world, says the YouTube Blog.

We won’t spend much time critiqing camera angles, script selection or production values (Do you think they’ll be nominated for Streamys 2010?) but an interesting development, and a sign of the times, for a medium whoose application and utility are nothing short of heavenly!
