Married with Children star David Faustino‘s new comedy series Star-ving will premiere on Friday, January 16, 2009.

We’ll also see new seasons of The Groundlings (our coverage), Owen Benjamin Presents and The Jace Hall Show (our coverage).

The studio claims that it use “production techniques that Sony Pictures puts into movies and TV,” but condensed for the web. Like all other internet studios, Crackle aims for a professional sheen mean to create advertiser-friendly content distinct from that user-generated stuff.

Rocketboom creator and recent Crackle partner, Andrew Baron lauds the studio’s stated devotion to “production value.”

But what is production value really?  Good sound and fancy cuts are worthless to me.  Good writing, performance and a webcam is another story.

The true production value that Crackle seems to bring to the table is vetted talent which, we’ve seen, can have a major impact on quality and viewership. In ways both good and bad.

Lets see if these celebs can bring crackle the pop it desires.
