Since Carrie Brownstein‘s stopped strumming power chords with Sleater-Kinney, she’s been perfecting her comedic deadpan with Fred Armisen (another rocker who’s managed to make a living from being funny, most notably as an SNL-cast member) under the banner of ThunderAnt.
It’s not often the duo releases new shorts, so when they do, it’s worth noting. One Man Show dropped yesterday (via Videogum).

It’s a 7:09 long jab at performance art, where Armisen dons many archetypal hats to take you on a cross-cultural journey of modern American reflection. No, slapstick, no punny humor, just straight up believable satire.
If Armisen gave his performance in a dimly lit bar in Billywick (or whatever they call the neighborhood filled with self-congratulatory artists who applaud one another because they “get it” when people get on stage and don’t make sense), the audience would totally think this was legit.
Characteristic of ThunderAnt, the short might go on a little too long, but this time the length adds to the joke.
