E! Launches 'E! News Now'

E! has created a new show specifically for the web and mobile devices,

will host the two minute clips.  Gorse is an editor at large for Life & Style Weekly and Ortiz starred on ABC’s defunct series ‘What About Brian?’ as well as The N’s ‘South of Nowhere.’

“‘E! News Now’ will allow us to bring (breaking) stories to our users as quickly as possible,”  John Najarian, senior VP of new media and business development for E! parent Comcast Entertainment Group, tells Variety

E! News Now can be streamed from Eonline.com

’s broadband video hub The Vine, and is offered on several wireless media packages.

NOTE: Why do TV networks feel the need to create separate, cumbersome “broadband video hubs” with separate dumb names like The Vine?  E! should follow the lead of MTV and put easily accessible, embeddable videos directly on its websites.  Video can complement text and interactive elements very well–why confine it?
