New site: PoliticalVideo.org

Yesterday, the team behind PoliticalVideo.org officially announced their new site, reported NewTeeVee’s Jackson West, boasting 835 political videos recorded through government funding upon launch. That’s 247.4 hours of public domain political interest video from 2001 to present day. The site promises an additional 250 hours of video footage by Wednesday.

PoliticalVideo.org began as a private resource for documentary filmmaker Kent Bye, collected and organized from the same public record resources that televisions news had utilized, but went from private to public with the help of Cheryl Colan after Bye’s film, The Echo Chamber, was completed.

All videos are transcribed and available for search and download. It’s a fantastic new resource for vloggers, video artists, and online news shows, making contemporary political videos over the past six years available for cutting and combining in multiple formats. Original sources have even been listed to make this as accurate and legal as possible for the more formal uses that a site like this can encourage. The ease of use here is astoundingly awesome. Check it out.
