TNT and TBS go online

Almost every major series on ABC, NBC, and now CBS can be watched online. But until today’s announcement by Turner Broadcasting that TNT and TBS will be airing their popular shows like “The Closer” and “Saving Grace” online for free, cable television hadn’t yet entered that same level of television on the internet.

Sure, TLC and Comedy Central have original series made for online viewers and the Discovery Channel and MTV Overdrive show clips and bonus footage from their most successful shows, but the cable television industry has otherwise shied away from making full-length, regular installments of big name serials available on the internet.

But TNT and TBS will begin showing episodes of “The Closer,” “Heartland,” “Saving Grace,” “The Company,” “House of Payne,” “The Bill Engvall Show,” “My Boys,” and “The Frank Show” online this summer. Episodes will go live the day after televised airing and remain online for a full month, says Hollywood Reporter.
