CMT Loaded Wants Submissions

Country Music Television launched a new channel on the network’s online broadband player, CMT Loaded, yesterday.

The channel is called CMT Homegrown, an affectionate nod to fans. Homegrown will derive the bulk of its content from user-submitted videos, featuring music, interviews, documentaries, testimonials, and more.

Along with the launch came a contest, a series, and the channel’s first request for submissions. “Hometown Edition” began asking fans yesterday to send in videos that express what makes their town or city unique. “Whether it’s Friday night football or the local county fair that makes a town unique, fans will vote online to crown the nation’s best hometown,” read the press release. So don’t expect your hometown to win just because it has several film festivals and more musicians per capita than anywhere else in America. This is all about football and county fairs.

The nation’s best hometown will be featured alongside the video entry that earned its title on a future edition of CMT’s most popular show, “CMT Top 20 Countdown”. So send in your submission and check out CMT Homegrown on CMT Loaded for some homey, user-generated, All-American goodness.

Keep in mind, though, that CMT Loaded uses Windows’ Digital Rights Management in Windows Media Player, which isn’t included in the plug-in for Macs. So this channel is only for PC users.
